Season 1 background: Police officer and hunter · Jackson, Ohio, United States
Josh arrived with a police background, hunting experience and several wilderness courses behind him. He had practised self-reliance from a young age and left his family at home for the experiment.
His stay ended after approximately 12 hours. Bear activity around the drop site made remaining unacceptable to him. That short duration describes his decision in this setting, not the full range of his abilities.
Bear activity and concern for personal safety
Season listings give 31; a pre-broadcast local article gives 32. Ages are retained as listed for the season, not as current ages.
Josh's identity and pre-show story are documented by HISTORY and a June 2015 WOUB report from his home region. Those sources identify a police officer and hunter from Jackson County, Ohio. No reliably matched current website, personal channel or dated 2026 life update was verified, so the profile should not guess his present job or family circumstances.
