An Iowa farm childhood developed into travel, traditional skills and wilderness therapy. Lucas approached the experiment as an emotional and philosophical challenge as well as a test of field craft.
What happened in Season 1.
His first tipi trapped smoke, so he built a more comfortable yurt-style shelter. He made a canoe, paddle and musical instrument, and used the boat to reach a productive clam bed. On Day 39 he decided the experience had given him what he needed.
